Both Frank and I are pretty light packers. You learn each
time to schlep a suitcase around on a trip to leave non-essentials behind. Even
when going overseas, we have usually traveled with only a carry on size bag. BUT when
you are packing for eighteen months and you know that you can’t just wear jeans
and switch out t-shirts every day, the packing becomes a little more extensive.
Frank hasn’t really thought much about his wardrobe (men!), but I have been planning
and “packing” for several months now. Although I’m sure I have plenty of clothes,
I think I’ve experienced the same kind of nervous shopping that we sometimes do
at Christmas, especially when you have kids. You know you have enough but at
the last minute you buy extra just to make sure. Yesterday, when I finally
assembled and folded all of the things that I plan to bring, I counted 16
blouses, plus all the other dresses, skirts, sweaters, etc. etc. I’m pretty sure I have enough J
Oh, and the largest backpack is for art supplies—that’s
essential and non-negotiable J
So cool Mom! Hope we get to see some cool art work during your days in Joburg!
